In 2010 SEM completed a five-year Strategic Plan to: 1) create greater awareness and understanding in the academy and public sphere of ethnomusicological perspectives; 2) increase ethnomusicology’s contribution to civic life and public policymaking; 3) facilitate international communication and collaboration in ethnomusicology; and 4) strengthen K-12, undergraduate, and graduate education in ethnomusicology. SEM is pursuing these goals through a variety of special projects that are being funded by the Sound Future Campaign.
