CALL FOR PRESENTERS
Society for Ethnomusicology
Education Section Forum
August 15, 2014
Section of the Society for Ethnomusicology is pleased to announce a call for
presentations for the 2014 Education Section Forum scheduled to take place on Thursday, November 13th, 2014 from 7-9 pm as part of
the SEM Annual Meeting in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The Forum features presentations
on educational themes and the presentation the Elizabeth May Slater Prize.
Presentations may be on any topic related to the goals of the section:
fostering greater awareness and understanding of ethnomusicology in the public
sphere, increasing ethnomusicology’s contribution to civic life, and
strengthening K-12 education in ethnomusicology. Proposals may also focus on issues
related to ethnomusicology in education, including pedagogy, educational
musical cultures, and the community music-music education interface. All
presentations will be twenty minutes in length.

"SEM Ed Section Submission" and attach
a PDF or Word document including the following information:
name, academic insitution (or independent status), and position. If you are a student,
please list your current degree program
title of the presentation
250-word abstract describing your proposed presentation
All submissions must be received
by midnight, August 15th, 2014.
Notification of acceptance will
be sent electronically by September 1st, 2014.
