Education Section Forum

DEADLINE: August 15, 2015

The Education Section of the Society for Ethnomusicology is pleased to announce a call for presentations for the 2015 Education Section Forum scheduled to take place as part of the SEM Annual Meeting in Austin, Texas. The Forum features presentations on educational themes as well as the presentation the Elizabeth May (Slater) Prize. Presentations may be on any topic related to the goals of the section: fostering greater awareness and understanding of ethnomusicology in the public sphere, increasing ethnomusicology's contribution to civic life, and strengthening K-12 education in ethnomusicology. Proposals may also focus on issues related to ethnomusicology in education, including pedagogy, educational programs, children’s musical cultures, and the community music-music education interface. All presentations will be twenty minutes in length.


Please send an email with the subject heading "SEM Ed Section Submission" and attach a PDF or Word document including the following information:

1. Your name, email address, academic institution (or independent status), and position. If you are a student, please list your current degree program

2. The title of the presentation

3. A 250-word abstract describing your proposed presentation

All submissions must be received by midnight, August 15, 2015.

Notification of acceptance will be sent electronically by September 15, 2015.
