Archived video-streams of selected sessions of the SEM 2014 Annual Meeting are now online at http://www.ethnomusicology.org/?page=Conf_Video. These streams have been edited to eliminate extraneous footage and to include, where possible, presenters’ PowerPoint shows. SEM strongly encourages use of these records of its meeting for classroom teaching and personal viewing. Examples of sessions available from SEM 2014 include:
"Critical Perspectives on Ethnomusicological Theory”
President’s Roundtable: "Expressive Culture, Alternative Justice and Conflict Resolution”
"Ethnomusicology and Public Policy: Intangible Cultural Heritage and Its Effects on and in the Field”
Roundtable: "Reflections on Two Classic Works on their Fiftieth Anniversary: Bruno Nettl’s Theory and Method in Ethnomusicology and Alan Merriam’s The Anthropology of Music”
Seeger Lecture: Mark Slobin, "Improvising a Musical Metropolis: Detroit, 1940s-1960s”
Also available on the above webpage are video-streams from the SEM 2011-2013 Annual Meetings.
SEM gratefully acknowledges assistance in the production of these video-streams from Indiana University Bloomington Collaboration Technologies, Jennifer Studebaker (SEM Program Specialist and Video-Stream Coordinator), and the many students who volunteered as camera operators during the Annual Meetings.
