The editors of the Analytical Approaches to World Music (AAWM) journal are pleased to announce that the winner of the 2016 Rob Schultz Junior Scholar Award is David Fossum for his paper "Principles of Transmission and Collective Composition in Turkmen Dutar Performance". Congratulations David, and thank you to everyone who submitted.

The Rob Schultz Junior Scholar Award is open to presenters at the biennial AAWM conference who are graduate students or young scholars within five years of graduation. It was established by the editors and organizers of the AAWM journal and conference series, working in close association with Rob’s family, to honor our dear friend and colleague who passed away unexpectedly in May 2016. The winning article is published in the AAWM journal, and the author also receives a modest cash award.
