Cudamani is proud to announce summer programming 2017.  As Cudamani approaches their 20th Anniversary they continue their commitment to providing in depth cultural and educational encounters in Bali.  For the first time they offer two complementary programs.  Participants can enroll in both or just one.  Airfare and travel arrangements are not included in this program.

Cudamani ACE (Arts, Culture, Environment)

July 5-12, 2017

Under the direction of Emiko Susilo and assisted by Dewa Putu Berata and Judy Mitoma, this will be our first educational tour for those attending the Cudamani Summer Institute and want an orientation to Bali before you begin your music and dance training or for those wishing to visit Bali but do not have the luxury of time.

This one-week program will introduce Bali from the Cudamani insider perspective. A carefully designed  itinerary will help you understand and appreciate the creative, social and spiritual world of the Balinese. Central to this appreciation, we recognize that Bali faces increasing environmental and cultural challenges, indeed these threaten the Balinese way of life.  Consistent with the Balinese way of dealing with difficulties, Cudamani ACE program aims to provide a balanced perspective.  This program is open to all ages and abilities.  In keeping with the Balinese way, we wish to be flexible to individual needs and physical ability.

 Highlights include:

·         Each day begins with a 1.5 hr gamelan workshop at Cudamani Sanggar.

·         Visits to a few selected temples will include ACE insights to their history, architectural design, and religious activities.

·         Hands on workshops will allow you to work along side Balinese with activities such as offering making, basket weaving, painting, etc.

·         Rather than tourist performances you will attend actual temple ceremonies in a manner respectful of the culture. Cudamani members will serve as guides and cultural resources.

·         One performance at the Bali Arts Festival gives you a chance to see local Balinese gamelan and dance groups as they perform for Balinese audiences.

·         A rich array of NGOs is tackling environmental problems in Bali today.  Emiko will introduce you to some of the important players such as village farmers who struggle to reintroduce traditional organic rice growing techniques, or the heartwarming a sea turtle egg rescue program, or health initiative lead by expat health care professionals.

·         Cudamani members and guest ACE Lecturers will offer insight and opportunities for discussion.

·         Daily programs will last from 5-6 hours, allowing for individual time to explore the UBUD area on your own.

Program includes:
