The Church of God and Saints of Christ, a Jewish African-American church founded in 1896 with deep DC area roots, will invite you to move and sing with their unique DC-rooted songs in a participatory celebration.

This FREE ceremony and concert, featuring Cambodian and Irish traditional music, is hosted by Maryland Traditions, Maryland’s state folklife program.

Getting there:
Request an invitation at the conference registration desk. Present invitation for FREE bus shuttle for SEM attendees (space limited). Bus departs front entrance of the Omni Shoreham Hotel at 5:45 pm. and returns at 10:00 pm.

DC Punk Benefit for Diverse City Fund at La Casa

 On Saturday, three DC punk-related bands (Puff Pieces, Bad Moves, and Bushmeat Airways) will play a benefit for the Diverse City Fund at La Casa, a longstanding venue for punk benefit shows. $10 cover required.

Getting there:
- From the Omni Shoreham Hotel, walk to Connecticut Ave & 24th St. Catch the DC98 "Circulator" in the direction of McPherson Square Metro for 3 stops. Get out at Columbia Rd NW and Ontario Rd. NW. Walk N on Mt Pleasant St. NW (towards Irving St. NW) to La Casa at 3166 Mt. Pleasant. Total travel time about 19 minutes.
