Sections General Information
Share |

Sections support particularly strong areas of interest within the SEM membership. They are in many respects like a special interest group, only larger. In fact, sections must begin as special interest groups and once they have established a certain level of stability and organization, they may petition the Board to be granted Section status. Sections have advisory subcommittees to aid in their operation and are permitted to raise funds for special projects through dues collected as an option on the SEM membership renewal form. Special interest groups interested in becoming sections must make a request to the Board of Directors.

Sections organize a variety of different activities. Most sections will organize panel proposals for the annual meeting as part of their mission to support their particular interest area. Sections may also program activities at the annual meeting such as the PMSSEM speaker or the Education section Saturday workshop
