Cornel Pewewardy & the Alliance West Singers/Music of the World CDY-130

Published in North Carolina by Music of the World. This CD was produced by Bob Haddad and James Lascelles.

This collection of music from the Kiowa and Comanche traditions of the Southern Plains Tribes (USA), incorporates several types of songs as well as flute music. These were performed in the style of the Southern Nations around a central drum.

Buffalo Dances
Kiowa Gourd Dances
War Dances
Round Dances
Kiowa Hymns
Comanche Flute Solo
Quitting Song

This is a well-produced set of music which can serve as a brief survey to the sounds of the Southern Plains Nations. Dr. Cornel Pewewardy is a member of the Comanche Nation (born in Lawton, Oklahoma) and a great supporter of education.

The included text is appropriate for some junior high and most high school students.
