2018 Olsen Prize awarded to Corey Lohman

Posted By Lee B. Bidgood, Tuesday, September 4, 2018
The 2018 SEMSEC Olsen Prize winner is Corey Lohman (UNC-Greensboro) for his paper titled, "The Grain of the Acousmêtra: Encountering the Other in the field recordings of Hugo Zemp’s Voix du Monde.”  The committee received several impressive papers this year, and congratulates all presenters for their hard work -- and would also like to thank Dale and Diane Olsen for their financial contribution to the prize.

The SEM Southeast and Caribbean Chapter Chapter encourage graduate students presenting papers at our next conference meeting in 2019 at Wake Forest University to submit their conference papers for prize consideration. Our 2019 conference will be in conjunction with the Silk Roads Symposium being held at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, March 28-30th.  For more information about the Olsen prize see: https://www.ethnomusicology.org/members/group_content_view.asp?group=184262&id=665035
