“Movement(s), Upheaval, and Migration,” SEMSEC Annual Meeting 2018

The Society for Ethnomusicology, Southeast and Caribbean Chapter (SEMSEC), is pleased

to announce its 2018 annual meeting, to be held at Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana, on Friday March 16 through Sunday, March 18, 2018.

The program committee has welcomed proposals that relate to our selected title, “Movement(s), Upheaval, and Migration," and  the following broader topics: 

- Music & Migration

- Heritage Communities of Resistance

- Music & Protest

- Music on the Big & Small Screen

- Regional Dance Cultures

The Program Committee welcomes scholars working in a wide range of fields including ethnomusicology, musicology, music education, music theory, dance, art history, political science, anthropology, sociology, area studies, media studies, folklore, performance studies, southern studies, Caribbean studies, and popular culture -- and note that graduate and undergraduate students are particularly welcome.
