One of the many highlights of the SEM 2014 Annual Meeting in Pittsburgh was the SEM Orchestra Sound Future Benefit Concert on Friday, November 14. Under the direction of Michael Frishkopf and Scott Currie, the SEM-O offered wonderful performances of compositions by Stephan Moore, Scott Smallwood , Pauline Oliveros, Amie Maciszewski, Ornette Coleman, Steve Reich, and Michael Frishkopf. Moore and Smallwood also appeared as guest artists, while the concert was emceed by Gage Averill.

Program notes, audio recordings, and a final list of donors can be found on the concert webpage . As a fundraiser, the event was a grand success, with close to $40,000 received in donations and pledges! SEM is deeply grateful to the SEM-O and the many individuals who offered contributions.

With funds raised through the concert, the Sound Future Campaign has now surpassed $345,000! The Society is already using campaign monies to support such projects as the 21st Century Fellowship Fund, Annual Meeting Travel Fund, diversity action programs, a K-12 education initiative, and publication projects.

With the continued support of the SEM membership, we hope to reach our campaign goal of $500,000 by December 2015. For more information, please visit the Sound Future area of the SEM website. Thank you for your support!
