Temple University Theory and Musicology Society (THEMUS)
Fourth Annual Graduate Student Conference

Deadline: 31 December 2016
Conference Date: Saturday, 15 April 2017
Conference URL: https://sites.google.com/a/temple.edu/themus/graduate-conference
Conference Venue: Temple University (Main Campus), Philadelphia, PA

The Temple University Theory and Musicology Society (THEMUS) invites paper proposals for its fourth annual graduate conference on Saturday, 15 April 2017. Our keynote speaker will be Prof. Olivia Bloechl, a historian of early modern European and North American music, with broad expertise in opera before 1800, postcolonialism, cultural theory, and ethics and politics of music.

We invite proposals related to theory, analysis, musicology, popular music, or ethnomusicology from graduate students at any point in their course of study. We especially encourage projects that explore interdisciplinary topics, though all proposals will be given equal consideration. The program committee aims to achieve as fair and broad a representation of approaches and presenters as possible.

Proposals should be designed for a 20-minute presentation; each presentation is followed by a 10-minute discussion. Any number of proposals can be submitted by an individual, but not more than one will be accepted. For full consideration, please submit all materials no later than 31 December 2016. Applicants are kindly asked to use the form provided at the conference URL. All submissions will be read anonymously, and notifications will be sent on or about 15 January 2017.
