SEMSW 2017 (CFP deadline reminder)

 The Southwest Chapter of the Society for Ethnomusicology invites students and scholars of music and sound from any discipline to submit abstracts for the SEMSW annual meeting to be held from Friday-Saturday, April 7-8, 2017 at the University of Utah, Salt Lake City. The conference will be held jointly with the Rocky Mountain Chapter of the American Musicological Society and the Rocky Mountain Society for Music Theory.

Abstract Submission Guidelines: Abstracts for individual scholarly papers (20-minute presentation followed by 10-minute discussion), organized panels of 3 or 4 papers as well as other formats such as workshops and performances are welcome.  For individual papers, please submit an abstract of 250 words or less. Abstracts should clearly state the problem to be addressed, any conclusions the author intends to draw, and the paper’s contribution to scholarship in general. Please note that panel proposals should include an abstract for each panelist as well as one for the session as a whole.  

Along with your abstract, please include the following (in a single Word document):

Title of presentation

Institutional or other affiliation(s) 

A/V equipment requirements

Mailing address 

Email address

Phone number.

All abstracts for individual papers, panels, roundtable discussions, and workshops should be submitted via email by SUNDAY, JANUARY 15, 2017 NEW DEADLINE Monday, Jan. 23rd at 11:59PM to aaron.paige@du.edu

Student Prize: Students interested in being considered for the Joann Kealiinohomuku Outstanding Student Paper Prize should submit completed papers by Sunday, April 2, 2017 to: semswchapter@gmail.com with the subject heading “student paper prize.”
