The Outreach Committee of the Association for Recorded Sound Collections (ARSC) posts the following message.

--- 2017 ARSC CONFERENCE ---

Please join us for the 51st annual ARSC conference, May 10-13, 2017, at the Menger Hotel, in San Antonio, Texas. The hotel is situated next to the Alamo Mission, better known as the site of the 1836 Battle of the Alamo. Founded in 1859, the Menger is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

April 17 is the deadline to reserve a room at the Menger Hotel, at the special conference rate. However, to avoid disappointment, please book as soon as possible, while rooms are still available. For reservations:

If you experience difficulties reserving a room, contact Conference Manager Brenda Nelson-Strauss:

April 17 is also the deadline for discounted rates for conference registration and the pre-conference workshops. After that date, registration fees increase. Please note: The morning workshop, “Analog Tape Playback,” is full. For online registration:

Be sure to check out the recently added session abstracts and the updated preliminary schedule:

Don’t forget the silent auction. Each year, hundreds of items are offered for sale to the highest bidders. Books, CDs, vintage 78-rpm and LP records, music memorabilia, audio products and services, and related items are all available. Incredible bargains can often be had. Bid on or donate an item! Just recently added: Bob Livingston, a singer-songwriter and founding member of The Lost Gonzo Band, is scheduled to perform at the conclusion of Saturday evening’s Awards Banquet. Livingston was a key figure in the cosmic cowboy, progressive country, and outlaw country music movements.
