Ursula Hemetek Wins Wittgenstein Prize

The Society for Ethnomusicology congratulates Ursula Hemetek on her award of the 2018 Wittgenstein Prize! Professor Hemetek received this high honor (also known as the “Austrian Nobel Prize for science”) in recognition of her ethnomusicological research with minority groups in Austria. Hemetek heads the Institute for Folk Music Research & Ethnomusicology at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna, has been an active member of SEM for many years, and currently serves as the Secretary General of the International Council for Traditional Music.
