Call for Proposals - NCCSEM 2019

The Northern California Chapter of the Society for Ethnomusicology (NCCSEM) will hold its Annual Meeting on Saturday, March 2, 2019, at University of California, Merced.

SEM members, students, faculty, performers, and all interested in the field of ethnomusicology are invited to submit proposals for papers, panel discussions, workshops, video screenings, musical performances, or other pertinent events.

Proposals for papers and panel discussions should include an abstract of no more than 250 words, the name(s) of presenter(s), institutional affiliation (if any), title of presentation, format of presentation, and audiovisual needs.

Proposals for performances, workshops, videos, and roundtable discussions should include an abstract of no more than 250 words, the names of participants, and approximate duration of the material to be presented.

Any student who presents a paper at the chapter’s Annual Meeting shall be eligible for the Marnie Dilling Memorial Prize, an award for the most outstanding student paper presentation, which carries a modest cash award. Students wishing to be considered for the award should submit three (3) hard or electronic copies of the paper at registration along with their contact information (name, institutional affiliation, mailing address, phone number, email). Candidates are also required to submit copies of audio or visual examples used in their presentation (CD, DVD, or electronic formats are acceptable).

All presenters must be members of NCCSEM. Individuals can join NCCSEM by registering on the day of the meeting.

Proposals are due via email  no later than January 11, 2019. Please email proposals to the program committee chair, Nicole Hammond: Nicol Hammond <nihammon@ucsc.edu> . Notifications of acceptance will be made in mid-January.
