This app-based service enables parents/guardians to connect with local babysitters. Babysitters are interviewed by the service before their profiles are posted. Parents/guardians can search profiles and filter for babysitters who have criminal record checks, first aid qualifications, and a variety of other qualifications. Once a potential sitter is selected, parents set up an interview via Skype to make final arrangements.

Payment is made via the app. There is a $40 setup fee + membership + hourly rate for using the service.

Nannies On Call

All nannies have CPR training, First Aid Certification, and a Criminal Record Check. Bookings can be made online or by phone.

The hourly rate for Nannies On Call is $17/hour to care for up to 3 siblings. Nannies are paid in cash or by cheque at the end of each appointment. Payment must be made in Canadian funds. Additional charges apply for extra children and/or children from different families.

Every booking incurs a $33 (plus tax) fee. Bundles can be purchased if multiple bookings are planned.

SOS Sitter

This is an online service for parents/guardians in the Ottawa area. Profiles includes details about the babysitters’ qualifications and criminal records cheque. While all profiles are reviewed by the service, this is a peer-to-peer service so use-at-own-risk.

Several tiers of membership exist for this service. Free memberships allow parents/guardians to post ads for sitters only. Hourly rates vary by babysitter.
